The Last Star is a First-Person Shooter, Sci-Fi Survival-Horror game. Its action takes place on a spaceship 300 trillion years in the future. The ship has been built to lead what is left of humanity through a time portal. This portal will be "powered" with energy being absorbed from the last star in the universe, a white dwarf called ESPER-4-NZA. For the long journey from their local planet to the star, the humans have been preserved in their own capsules on cryogenic freezing. The maintenance and safety of the ship and its contents is ensured by a crew of automatons, whose purpose is to make sure that everything would run flawlessly. However the automatons' program has been corrupted with a malign virus, which has made them machines of destruction. The player is a human who is awakened from his cryopod by the ship's captain. The player's goal is to save humanity from the perpetual darkness of the universe by surviving the automatons, now with homicidal intentions, and activate the portal that will allow humanity to survive.

This game is still in development. All feedback is appreciated.

Installation:

  1. Text on installation could be justified and menu resized in order to avoid scrolling.
  2. Logo exper something should appear completed or in background of text with transparency.
  3. The installer is using as default "E:\Games\The Last Star" default should be "C:\Games\The Last Star" instead.
  4. When extractor ends it does not show any confirmation (as expected) that installation is successful and Ok to proceed, just closes the window.
  5. No clear required hardware.
  6. No uninstaller.
  7. Game shortcut without icon.
  8. I expect that installation has an installer that does all for me and not to have to install additional stuff after unarchiving the game content.

In game menu:

  1. Hover instead of click to show developer info and details.
  2. Options menu: allow joypad change keys options, change mouse orientation (lefthanded and rightanded people).

In game:

  1. Reload with right mouse button.
  2. Environment music is the key to giving more calm or creepy environment.
  3. Objectives should be on/off when we press O key for example. Also, they could be numbered or with another color from the title 'Objectives'.
  4. Robots running is just wierd. Also, when they die don0t take them out of the scene so fast let them rust a litle.
  5. No clearer week point in Robots.
  6. No distinct types of robots for specific tasks.
  7. Nothing to destroy in the scenario.
  8. No granades or mely weepon.
  9. When draining energy a robot appears ou of thin air at least have him be off when we enter the room.

Hey there, thank you for the feedback, I've taken it into consideration and for the moment both I and my colleague are unable to fix most of the issues pointed out, but even so I've remade the installer so that it behaves and looks better specially considering your points.
In case you'd like to experience it again, little of the demo in itself has been changed other than a few slight performance optimizations.

Best regards
Hyperimus

I love the story that you have going. The idea of all the stars going out and this being the final one, that in and of itself is scary. Why is this happening? What is causing it? It may be to late to stop it, but perhaps you can go back in time and prevent it from happening. You got something here....I would surmise a game like SOMA, a survival game where stealth and hiding are key, solve the mystery. Just my two cents. I enjoyed it, and great Trek references. ;p Keep it up looking to see where this goes.

Hi very nice graphics, I would like more if it was a walking or story game.
Anyway nice job and good luck with your project in feature.

GOOD JOB ON THIS GAME DEV

The game has a nice look to it and the little bit of lore you put in is nice despite the game being a tad short. I would suggest taking a look at your SFX for the rifle and make it sound a bit more meatier when it is being fired. That and I had slight trouble just trying to pick up the gun.

Beyond that, it's a decent sci-fi game.

Here's my channel for other games I have played. http://www.youtube.com/c/Levont

I love the presentation and setting/story! I wish you luck with further development. It's a bit short, yes, and I guess it might get a bit longer during the development. You nailed the aesthetic but in my opinion it lacks atmosphere the most. You're probably working on it. Just a little buzzing, machines running, computer beeps in the background or other sci-fi type of sound effects could be present and it would already make it a lot more immersive. One more nitpick, make the dwarf star bigger as they usually have volume of Earth. So far this is a good short sci-fi game.

This demo's pretty damn good, honestly. It's a simple game right now but everything looks and plays great. I really think it has potential to be pretty badass when you expand on it some more. Thanks for the fun!
